Timed entry means an entry window, not an open day
A ticket stamped 10:00 to 10:30 usually means arrival inside that window, not entry at any hour. teamLab slots and the Ghibli Park warehouse time work this way, and arriving far outside the window can mean refusal or a shortened visit.412
Build buffer for cross-town travel and store luggage before the slot. A missed window shortens the experience even where staff show discretion.
Open on the map does not mean you can enter
A venue can be open as a business while every ticket for the day is already sold. JNTO warns that operating hours and map pins do not show slot availability, lottery status, or online-only sales.1
Check availability as a second step after checking hours. For popular attractions, reverse the usual order: confirm the ticket first, then plan what surrounds it.
Group and family slots sell out before single slots
A calendar showing one ticket left cannot fit a party of four. Ghibli Park caps orders at six tickets per order, and Shirakawa-go caps vehicles at ten people including the driver, so larger parties hit the ceiling first.212
Book the whole party in one order where the venue requires joint entry. Splitting a group across distant time slots can mean entering separately or not at all.
A venue rule is not a nationwide rule
The Miyajima tax is Hatsukaichi City policy, Shirakawa-go controls are Shirakawa Village policy, Nara rules are Nara Prefecture park rules, and teamLab and Ghibli policies are per-operator terms.92128 None of them generalizes to Japan as a whole.
