保管付きクリーニング (hokan tsuki kurīningu, "storage-included cleaning") pairs dry cleaning with off-season custody in one order.¹ The provider cleans seasonal clothing, holds it in a temperature, humidity, and light-controlled room for 6 to 9 months, and delivers it back at the season change.¹²³⁴

The core user is a resident whose closet cannot hold a full-year wardrobe. Provider-published voices and resident guides both point to 1K to 1LDK dwellers who lack space for bulky winter coats plus summer clothes at once.¹⁵

衣替え (koromogae, "seasonal wardrobe change") is the rhythm behind the product. Winter coats go out in spring and return in autumn, while summer clothes go out in autumn and return in spring.¹⁴

What Storage-Included Cleaning Covers

Storage-included cleaning bundles two products that are separate at a corner cleaner. Professional cleaning comes first, then custody in an apparel-level store room until the next season.¹²³

Storage caps are set per provider policy and run about 9 months at Lenet and Pony, one season to the next at Hakuyosha, and up to 10 to 11 months at Sentakubin (as of 2026-09-06; confirm current terms with each provider).¹²³⁴ Terms differ provider by provider across Japan, so read the ordered provider page as the authority rather than treating any one cap as national.

Typical Items and Exclusions

Accepted categories center on outerwear, jackets, shirts, knits, tops, bottoms, dresses, suits, and outdoor wear carrying a laundry tag.¹² Winter coats, down jackets, suits, sweaters, and summer dresses are the standard load.¹²³

Common exclusions are consistent across providers. Leather, fur and real-fur parts, kimono and yukata, underwear and swimwear, bedding and futon, curtains and carpets, bags and shoes, and items with no wash tag or all-cross care labels are returned uncleaned.¹²⁴

Hakuyosha adds a material rule worth reading before packing. Its seasonal storage excludes delicate materials such as cashmere, angora and other animal hair, silk, synthetic leather, and fur and leather goods, while its premium storage tier accepts delicate materials except synthetic leather goods.³

Read the exclusion list before touching the bag

One excluded piece wastes one pack slot because excluded pieces return uncleaned with the finished bag and earn no refund or reduction at Pony.² Check leather trim, fur hoods, and wash tags before sealing the bag.

Costs and Pack Pricing

Seasonal packs are quoted per pack for a fixed item count per season of storage. The entry-tier band for 10 to 20 items per season of storage sits roughly 10K to 25K JPY including cleaning, storage, and round-trip shipping (as of 2026-09-06; confirm current figures with each provider pack page).²⁴⁶

Premium courses with hand finishing and extra coating options price materially higher per pack (as of 2026-09-06).¹² Campaign and repeat-bag discounts rotate seasonally, so treat the band below as dated entry-tier examples rather than a guaranteed price.

What the Pack Price Includes

Lenet and Pony pack prices bundle cleaning, storage for the stated max months, and round-trip shipping with no added storage surcharge inside the pack (as of 2026-09-06).¹² Sentakubin packs bundle the same three parts, with Hokkaido, Okinawa, and remote islands adding ¥1,980 (as of 2026-09-06).⁴

Hakuyosha works differently. Its storage fees are add-ons to per-item cleaning fees rather than a bundled pack, so the cleaning fee is charged separately per item (as of 2026-09-06).³

Standard bundled extras are part of the value. Lenet includes 1-minute de-pilling and de-linting, simple stain removal, soft finish on wash items, refine finish on dry items, and antibacterial deodorant finish on shirts.¹ Pony keeps Light tier at company-standard wash separation and finish, while stain removal, sweat-removal wash, hand finish, breathable cover, and insect repellent attach at Champs-Elysees and above.²

Major Providers

The market splits into online home-pickup pack providers and chain storage tiers attached to established cleaners.¹²³⁴ All four providers below operate nationally by courier, with stated surcharges or limits for Hokkaido, Okinawa, and remote islands.

Lenet Premium Cloak

Lenet プレミアムクローク (puremiamu kurōku, "Premium Cloak") runs two grades, lite and luxe, both with max 9-month storage, free shipping, free 1-minute de-pilling, and free simple stain removal (as of 2026-09-06; confirm current figures with Lenet).¹⁷ The dedicated bag measures 520 mm cube, and the store room runs 24-hour air conditioning with light shielding.¹

Luxe-only extras matter for brand coats. Hand finishing on every item, water-repellent finish on outerwear, pollen-guard finish, nonwoven cover plus insect repellent, return-date change up to one week before, and 30-day free re-finish versus 7-day on lite attach only at luxe.¹

Winter-change orders run January to July with return September to November, while summer-change orders run August to December with return March to May (as of 2026-09-06).¹ The kit ships around March for winter intake and around October for summer intake.¹

Pony Cleaning Storage and Delivery

Pony runs three grades, Light, Champs-Elysees, and Platinum, all with max 9-month storage in a 24-hour air-conditioned Tokyo warehouse (as of 2026-09-06).² Cleaning runs only through about 20 own factories in Kanto and Chukyo, backed by about 800 stores.²

The dedicated bag is 400 by 450 by 450 mm with one bag per order, and it must close fully (as of 2026-09-06).² A second bag means a second order, and coat-only loads may not fit the full item count.²

Over-count items incur per-item surcharges set by course and pack size (as of 2026-09-06).² Return-date change costs ¥550 tax incl and is accepted by phone or contact form subject to availability (as of 2026-09-06).²

Hakuyosha and Chain Storage Tiers

Hakuyosha offers seasonal storage and premium storage on top of per-item cleaning through the Rakuraku Takuhai-bin flow.³ Spring intake from March to June returns in October of the same year, while autumn intake from September to December returns in March of the next year (as of 2026-09-06).³

The courier brings a box on pickup day, and the customer supplies tape and packs on the spot.³ Cleaning may be deferred past the busy seasons from mid-March to early June and mid-September to early December, with items held in an insect-protected store in the meantime.³

Do not send delicate materials on the seasonal tier

Hakuyosha seasonal storage refuses cashmere, angora, silk, synthetic leather, and fur and leather goods, so those pieces need the premium tier or another provider.³ Packing them on the wrong tier returns them uncleaned at the fixed return date.

Online App-Based Home-Pickup Services

Sentakubin is the pack-model reference for app-ordered home pickup with longer caps. Winter intake runs February to September with return September to December, while summer intake runs September to February with return March to May (as of 2026-09-06).⁴

The kit is one 85-liter bag measuring 44 by 40 by 48 cm per pack (as of 2026-09-06).⁴ Over-count items cost ¥1,650 tax incl per item, while repeat orders with the repeat bag save ¥770 tax incl (as of 2026-09-06).⁴

Pickup runs through Yamato direct stores, partner conbini, or Yamato home collection on request.⁴ Items rest in a dedicated ion-equipped room and return in nonwoven covers rather than vinyl.⁴

How the Process Works

The standard flow is online order, home packing, courier pickup, inspection, cleaning and warehouse storage, and scheduled season-change return.¹²³⁴ Everything except packing happens off site, which is the point for residents without a car.

The flow below follows the order-time return choice through to delivery (citations for each step sit in the sections below).¹²⁴

Booking and Packing at Home

Orders are placed online 24 hours a day, with payment by credit card, cash on delivery or NP deferred payment, or Amazon Pay depending on provider.¹²⁴ After ordering, the provider mails a storage kit with a dedicated bag, with Sentakubin quoting about one week for kit arrival.¹²⁴

Customers fill the bag, attach the waybill or binding band, and either hand it to a home-collection driver or drop it at a partner conbini or Yamato office.¹²⁴ Pony kits expire about one month after ordering, so packing promptly protects the order (as of 2026-09-06; confirm current terms with Pony).²

Pickup, Cleaning, and Warehouse Storage

At the center, staff inspect each item against the order, confirm the fixed fee by email, and clean per the care label.¹²³ Storage rooms are light-shielded and air-conditioned around the clock across providers.¹²⁴

Hanging and folding follow the garment. Coats and jackets are hung to prevent creasing, while sweaters and knits are folded flat to prevent stretching.¹ Pony may hold items unwashed for about 3 months to wash outside the April to June busy season while keeping them in the same post-cleaning storage environment.²

Scheduled Return at Season Change

Return timing is chosen at order time from early, mid, or late month windows inside the fixed return season (as of 2026-09-06).¹⁴ Only the top grade allows free date change at some providers, with Lenet luxe permitting change up to one week before while Pony charges for any change (as of 2026-09-06).¹²

Partial early return of one item from a stored bag is not offered. The bag returns as a unit at the scheduled time.⁴ After arrival, move clothes out of the shipping box promptly to prevent moisture and creasing.²

Using Storage in a Small Apartment

Winter coats and down items dominate the use case because they are bulky, heavy to carry, and worn only part of the year.¹²⁵ Sending 10 winter pieces out can free half a narrow closet through summer.

Provider-published user voices describe narrow closets freed of winter coats, reduced summer humidity and mold worry, and avoided trips carrying bulky coats to a store counter.¹³ These are provider-published testimonials rather than an independent survey, so read them as direction rather than measurement.

The Japan Handbook laundry guide frames the same utility for small flats as freeing closet space and protecting clothes from mold.⁵ For a 1K or 1LDK without a second closet, the seasonal pack replaces a second wardrobe with a warehouse shelf.

Count the closet before choosing the pack

Lay out the off-season coats, suits, and knits and match the pile to a 7, 10, or 15-pack before ordering, since under-filled packs earn no refund and over-filled packs trigger per-item surcharges.²⁴ One counting pass on the bed beats paying for air.

Return Dates Are Fixed Windows, Not Free Choice

Hakuyosha spring intake returns only in October and autumn intake only in March, while Lenet winter intake returns September to November and summer intake March to May (as of 2026-09-06; confirm current windows with each provider).¹³ Sentakubin offers early, mid, and late month slots inside fixed return months (as of 2026-09-06).⁴

Booking the wrong seasonal intake strands summer clothes until the next fixed window. Choose the intake whose return month matches the next season change, not the current closet overflow.

Excluded Items Still Cost You Time

Excluded pieces are returned uncleaned with the finished bag, and Pony grants no refund or reduction for the wasted slot.¹² A leather-trimmed coat or wash-tag-free dress in the bag wastes one pack slot and can delay the whole return.

Photograph each piece and its care label before packing. The photo settles any inspection dispute and stops a second packing round for a forgotten exclusion.

Late Booking Shortens Your Storage Span

Order windows close seasonally, with Lenet winter intake running January to July and Sentakubin winter intake February to September (as of 2026-09-06).¹⁴ Pony kits expire about one month after ordering (as of 2026-09-06).²

A late order still returns in the same fixed season, so the effective storage months shrink. Order at the start of the intake window when the closet first turns over.

Check Compensation Caps Before Sending Brand Coats

Lenet luxe covers item accidents to 100 percent of reacquisition price up to 100,000 JPY, while Pony refuses pieces valued over 500,000 JPY per item.¹² Sentakubin points to statutory cleaning-accident compensation standards.⁴

A high-value down coat above the cap travels underinsured from the day it ships. Send flagship brand pieces on the grade whose guarantee matches their value, or keep them on local hand-cleaning instead.
